ADVANCED ADULT KAYAK COURSE SERRE CHEVALIER

The purpose of this kayaking course in Serre Chevalier

It’s to provide participants with the skills necessary to safely navigate Class 4 whitewater. It is important to note that Class 4 whitewater sailing is an extremely demanding activity and should be reserved people with sufficient experience and good physical condition. The instructors can adapt the program according to the skill level of the participants, weather conditions and the river.

Participants will receive quality equipment for their kayak course, including a high-end kayak, life jacket, helmet, paddle, water jacket and wetsuit. neoprene. They will also have access to additional safety equipment, such as whistles, ropes, knives, carabiners. Before starting the course, our instructors will assess participants’ current skills to ensure they are ready to navigate a Class 4 river. Our instructors will teach advanced whitewater navigation techniques, including body positioning, speed and maneuverability (orientation, propulsion, balance). River reading is an essential skill for safe class 4 river navigation. Our instructors will teach how to read rapids, obstacles, currents and identify potential dangers to navigate safely.

Safety is paramount when navigating whitewater. Our instructors will teach how to stay safe in the event of a rollover or technical problems (rolling, swimming in white water). Participants will receive training in whitewater safety procedures, including whitewater rescue techniques (recovery of personnel or equipment) and accident prevention.
Participants will navigate class 4 rapids in the lower part of the Guisane with the help of our instructors. They will give instructions to help students navigate safely and overcome difficulties.
Our instructors will evaluate the participants ‘ performance and give them advice on how to improve their class 4 whitewater navigation technique .

Day 1:
– Introducing instructors and other participants
– Assessing the skill level of participants
– Review of safety equipment needed to navigate in class 4 whitewater
– Review on advanced navigation technique in calm water and class whitewater 2-3 Day

Day 2:
– Training on river reading
– Practicing river reading on easily navigable sections
– Class 2-3 whitewater boating technique training

Day 3:
– Class 3-4 whitewater boating technique training
– Class 3-4 whitewater boating practice on sections of appropriate rivers
– Analysis of performance and mistakes made to improve technique

Day 4:
– Class 4 whitewater safety training
– Class 4 whitewater boating practice on appropriate river sections with the assistance of instructors
– Analysis of performance and mistakes made to improve technique

Day 5:
– Review of all techniques learned
– Class 4 whitewater navigation practice on a more advanced section of river
– Analysis of performance and mistakes made to improve technique
